As the entrepreneurs move
into international markets and Canadian markets
specifically, language skills and specifically English
will become more important.
Throughout Central and Eastern Europe there is a very
strong need for programs
including English and Business English which respond
immediately and effectively to
the emerging business communities getting involved in
international trade including
trade with Canada. The high demand for English training
has clearly been
demonstrated in recent Canadian projects in Western
Ukraine. With the emerging new
environmental concerns expressed by Canada, effort is
required to develop and
document environmental terms in relationship to business
practices.
The University of Saskatchewan will implement an English
program that will offer 4
levels of English, the fourth being a specific business
English aimed at the aspiring
international business person. The program will address
the needs of local business
people, SBEDIF staff and local government officials.
